Voters in six US states have been choosing the candidates they want to run for seats in Congress. In the state of Kentucky, thousands of voting stations were closed because of the pandemic, but that did not deter people from making their voices heard. Kentucky election officials are expecting a near-record turnout, especially in Jefferson County, where half the state’s Black voters live. The county received 218,000 requests for mail-in ballots, several times the usual number.
