ABC | One man's escape from Haiti required help from his schoolteacher son ...


Earlier this year, Frantzy Saintelus traveled from the U.S. to visit his family in Haiti. But in late February, criminal gangs had taken over the capital of Port-au-Prince. Through large-scale attacks, they took control of the city’s international airport, disrupted the country’s supply chain of food and aid, and freed about 4,000 inmates from the country’s two biggest prisons. Saintelus was effectively trapped in the country, with no way of returning home to the U.S. That's when his schoolteacher son, based in Virginia, made it his mission to get his father home.
