Israeli army claims attack on Haniyeh’s children in Gaza

At least three sons and three grandchildren of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh killed in Israeli air attack on Gaza refugee camp. Haniyeh tells Al Jazeera that Palestinian leaders will not back down if their families are targeted by the Israeli army, and that the killings will not affect Hamas’s demands in ceasefire talks. Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari says fighter jets attacked “three military operatives” in central Gaza, referring to a car carrying Haniyeh’s children, who were killed earlier today. He identified the three as Amir, Hazem and Mohammad Haniyeh. The Israeli army “confirms” that they are “the children of Ismail Haniyeh”, Hagari said. At least three of Haniyeh’s grandchildren were also killed in the attack. Haniyeh told Al Jazeera earlier today they were visiting relatives for Eid at the Shati refugee camp in northern Gaza when they were targeted. Bassem Naim is a senior member of Hamas' Political Bureau. He says the targeted killing of Ismail Haniya's family is an attempt by Israel's Prime Minister to derail the ceasefire negotiations.
