Ceasefire in Lebanon: Lebanese troops moving south
AlJazeeraEnglish | Ceasefire in Lebanon: Lebanese troops moving south ...
The Lebanese army is reinforcing southern Lebanon as part of a ceasefire agreement with Israel to end the conflict with Hezbollah. Although some residents are returning, devastated villages and towns await them. The Israeli military remains near the border, warning residents not to move south yet. Hezbollah is to withdraw from strongholds and transfer power to the Lebanese state within 60 days from November 27. The deal, based on UN Resolution 1701, calls for a disarmed southern Lebanon and extends the state's authority. Despite Hezbollah's cooperation, the terms appear unfavourable to them, with a US-led committee overseeing implementation. Lebanon's Prime Minister emphasised focusing on building a new country.
